Hudson, the Semi-Beagle Hudson was rescued by B.O.N.E.S. from a bad situation in Limington, ME. After the gentleman called 911 (and subsequently passed away), the local ACO found 20 dogs living in squalid conditions. B.O.N.E.S. took most of them and found them new homes. Overall, Hudson was in very good shape but when he had his physical, they found a serious mast cell tumor in his nose. As much as possible was removed. B.O.N.E.S. wanted to find a wonderful home for Hudson and we did. John is a long-haul trucker that had lost his beagle companion of 13 years. He wanted a new companion. Luckily John found Hudson (or Hudson found John). It was a wonderful match. Hudson reported in regularly, and we share his "Chronicles" on this page.

Hudson's Chronicles - May, 2014 Did I tell you that, a few months back, John abandoned me in the bitter cold winter, while he went off on a Jamaican vacation?

It all started last August. John and I were heading through Austin, TX and we stopped to see John's niece. She mentioned that the family was going to Jamaica for Christmas vacation. Her brother is in the military and wasn't sure if he could get the time off. John offered to go in his place. Around Thanksgiving, John got a call from Perry, his sister-in-law, asking him if his passport was current. You guessed it, he was going to Jamaica.

I got to stay with Steve and Anne, friends who have John and me over all the time. We have had a lot of good times over there in the past and I was looking forward to a visit all by myself.

Steve and Ann used to have a cat named Riley who, sadly, is no longer with us. Riley and I got along pretty well. He thought I was cool, but he pretended to be indifferent towards me. When the people weren't around, we had a blast together!

Even though Riley was gone, I was looking forward to the visit. I decided to spy on the humans and report back to John.

To: Agent Human-1
From: Agent K-9

These two are pretty cagey. Trying not to let them figure out I'm spying. They may be on to me, because they're not doing anything of interest at all. The female looks at her computer and swears a lot, or pretends to be reading a book. I try to keep her in one location by sitting on her, and that usually works for awhile.

It works for the male as well, though this usually occurs downstairs in front of the wood stove. He usually falls asleep before I do.

Hudson's Chronicles - May, 2014I kept learning more.

OK! So, sitting on them does not keep them in one place for too long. Sometimes, I'll move around more than they do - from room to room - just to let them know that I can be active as well. I even howl sometimes, just to see if I can get a rise out of them. (They do have good reflexes.)

Have yet to find anything suspicious. Thought they might be hiding secret information in the toilet, but I've inspected it (even tasted it... I'm nothing if not thorough!) a couple of times. Discovered nothing.

I'd hoped to make a more thorough surveillance of the outside, but it has been rainy, icy and cold. I heard them saying that you were in Jamaica... at the beach... all-inclusive resort... drinks included....

I'm doing my part, but I'm telling you, agent Human-1, next time, I'm going to Jamaica, and you can try sleeping under the covers with these two humans!

The weather did get a little better.

I continue to circumnavigate the yard when I'm able to (limited access and only when accompanied). I have not yet made contact (lethal or otherwise) with the squirrel I see. I continue to monitor his movements through a window to the rear of the house.

I've had to resort to eating the dog food, since the female has not brought out any of the cat food I so fondly remember. Even my soft, doe-eyed begging look is not working on her. It was probably the barf... she's getting back at me for the barf....

Hudson's Chronicles - May, 2014From the sounds of his trip, John and friends all had a great time in the warm, sunny weather! One reason they picked this resort was that it included a chance for Dave and Perry to renew their vows. Come to find out that it wasn't free, there was a fee. After a few drinks one evening, it was decided that they would do it themselves with John, and their two daughters, Sarah, and Katie, writing the vows. Judging from the pictures and the video on YouTube, they all seemed to have a blast!

That about wraps things up for now.
